Painting with Stitches by Sue Dove Sue brings a new look to thread stitchery on fabric primarily worked in embroidery techniques, plus a little tapestry weaving, wrapping and needlepoint to round it out. Examples are first made in oil pastels or colored pencils and then made into fiber art. Each example has a black and white drawing that can copied as is to begin or enlarged for a bigger size.. Sue will show you how to look at a painting or drawing and take one small section from it to become a learning stitchery sample. You will learn about color by working through some of the samples, and are encouraged to eventually create your own motifs. Sue’s motifs range from primitive to folk art and are easy to comprehend. Painting with Stitches is a fun book that teaches you about color and using color with thread stitches. Review by Teresa Barrett |
