Vogue Knitting - Vintage
Collection, Classic Knits from the
1920’s -1960’s The editors have compiled the “best of” collection of patterns from Vogue magazines of the past. If you like the styles of the 1920’s through the 1960’s, you will enjoy knitting some of these items. Finding yarns that will work with out-of-print patterns is a big problem since many of those yarns are no longer manufactured. The Vogue editors have solved this problem by providing a new updated yarn listing for each item. The designs are for women, men and children. There are 22 women’s fashions, five men’s sweaters, seven children’s items, seven scarves and four family accessories. For women, there are tops, pullovers, cardigans and dresses. These patterns include summer and winter wear. Some of the clothing is form fitting and others loose, such as dolman sleeved tops. I was excited to see one sequin dress for women and one for teens, the only problem is no supplier was provided. It sounds like an easy task to search the internet for the right type sequins; however, you could spend hours before finding what you want in the right size. I find it disappointing that the yarn would be updated but you are expected to wing it for the sequins. The patterns range from very easy to Faire Isle and cables. Each pattern indicates whether the pattern is very easy, intermediate or experienced. The accessories include both socks and gloves. Review by Lydia F Borin |
