Knitting Journal by Char Loving                                                                                          ISBN 1-931543-38-0, Hardbound spiral, 36pgs, $14.95US, Sixth & Spring Books, 233 Spring Street, New York, NY 10013, 877-860-6164 US

If you like to keep a record of your favorite knit projects and can’t keep up with your notes, this journal will be helpful.  Each page is made of heavy paper to last.  Listed on each page is a start date, completion date, name of garment, name of person it was knit for, pattern source; gauge, stitches per inch and rows per inch; needle size; yarn quantity, fiber content and cost plus a space for notes.  There is a place to attach a yarn label or sample and below that is an area to add a photo of the garment with cuts in the paper to insert the photo.

The book cover is strong and made to last.  The spiral format inside allows you to lay each page flat while you to write in notes.  I would assume this journal is for the patterns you know will be made over and over with different fibers and you want a complete record for easy reference.  I certainly have my notes distributed over several “brain” books and always have to go through them when I am trying to recreate a design I had made previously.

There is a needle inventory list at the back of the book for your needle types and sizes on hand.  There are two pages for notes and two pocket inserts to drop in labels or other material until you have time to add it to one of the record pages.  A conversion chart to multiply centimeters, grams and inches plus a ruler for inches and centimeters are provided on the back page.  This is a handy book if you want to keep a record of your patterns and not search through piles of loose notes.
