If you think making socks sounds like too much trouble when you can just purchase them, just remember how tight those store bought socks are around your ankles.  Most socks cut off my circulation and I have a ridge above my ankles by the end of the day.  When I began to see crocheted socks, I realized this might be a way to keep my blood flowing to my feet.

Janet and Mary Jane have designed 10 different sock patterns, some just ankle high and others longer.  Some of the socks have patterns worked in and others use a variegated or one yarn color to make the whole sock.

Worsted, sport and fingering yarns are some of the fibers used to make these socks.  You can experiment and use other yarns as long as you make a sample first for gauge and make sure the fiber will not only work to make the socks but also feel good.

Basic crochet stitches are used for some of the patterns.  Treble, double treble, use of the front and back posts and loops are added for some of the designs.  Each stitch is included in a Stitch Guide and all special stitches are explained in the projects.   Each row or round is printed separately so it is easy to follow the pattern.

This is a great project booklet for intermediate and advanced crocheters.  Beginners may need help from their advanced crocheter friends.  Crochet Stocking Feet will give you some good projects to work for both warm and cool weather and experiment with different yarns for textural delights.
