Bead Crochet Jewelry
by Linda Lehman with Shelley Grant If you like bead crochet ropes, these 15 projects will be of interest to you. There are ropes with bead color patterns, others that are all one solid color and lariats too. There is a discussion with thread types and crochet hooks plus tips on which hook works with which yarn. Cotton and silk were the main threads discussed. Don’t forget there are also wonderful polyesters and they don’t stretch like cotton and silk. Needles for bead stringing and other tools are explained along with bead types. All the projects are worked with bead slip stitch. You can also crochet all these projects using bead single crochet, adding the bead in the 1st or 2nd yarnover. The overall appearance will look different with both these stitch placements compared to bead slip stitch. Pages 11 through 15 provide tips and common sense reminders written in a very user friendly fashion. I found the sculptural slip stitch bead crochet and blocking information of interest. Each rope project is set up with a full color page and the pattern across from the photo. The patterns are easy to follow with large print and each row set up separately. The Black and White Lariat has a lot of texture created with patterns and finishing with ridge rope pieces.
