Fantasy Beading by Linde Punzel

Design Originals, 2425 Cullen Street, Fort Worth, TX 76107, Softcover, 19 pages, $5.99.

Many bead stores have a source for this book and can get you a copy. This is an inexpensive book with many ideas. It all stems from circular loop beading. This technique has been used for hundreds of years and in many parts of the world. The examples include several different wreaths, earrings, garlands, pinwheels and floral forms using the same techniques. I believe this technique is just as innovative and useful as right angle weave, peyote and other well known beading techniques. This book introduced me to the circular loop technique and I have created all kinds of new designs. I have made three dimensional baskets and even three dimensional figures using this technique. I first saw a sampling of Punzel's technique in a 1994 Jewelry Craft Magazine article and found the book in a bead store. It also includes building bugle ladders. This circular looped technique has been illustrated in other books but I believe Punzel has the best how-to instructions to learn the basic techniques. I have made hundreds of designs from this technique and teach classes combining it with other beading techniques. This is an excellent book that costs very little and offers so much. The color images accompanying this review are just a couple of examples of what you can do if you like to experiment.
