The Beadgang authors have zoomed to the beading forefront with their Beaded Obsession books. Each book presents new beaded patterns for small, easy to make jewelry. The projects in this book are little amulet size bags depicting a variety of subjects. Ladybugs, goddesses, Victorian motifs, angels, floral, tigers and other animal critters are among the designs included. Two of the bags have overall shapes of a butterfly and a ladybug . Many of the little bag patterns have a different motif or a continuous background pattern for the bag backside. The Majestic Feline for instance has the tiger face on the front and a part of the tiger’s back wraps around to the back making it a more dimensional bag.

Each page includes approximately two bag patterns. Each page is laid out with a full color graph, photograph of the finished bag, small cubes showing color types used and small graphs of any additional embellishment motifs to add to the bag. The Haunted Haven includes two bags, one with a Cat-O-Lantern and the other with buildings , ghost shapes and "Trick or Treat" spelled out on the bag. You could wear these over and over every year at Halloween. There is a little beaded ghost and other scary things that you can bead separately and add to the bag or incorporate one into the bag fringe. The Special Delivery is a bag full of holiday gifts. Some of the gifts can be made separately and added as three dimensional pieces to the bag or used in other beadwork. The Iris Beauty has a flower motif that can be made and added as a three dimensional piece to the bag or used as a flower in other beading. How about one or more of those flowers worked into a necklace?

Complete instructions for all the techniques can be found at the middle of the book. These instruction begin with how to add thread for peyote stitch, basic flat peyote stitch, circular brick stitch, connecting and adding thread, netting, narrowing down the beading for unusual shapes, adding lace (picots), ending threads, adding on for unusual shapes and fringe. Every step is included and yet it is presented in four pages that are very concise and easy to understand. These illustrations are lovely in themselves, using three dimensional bead shapes, clear arrows and lines to reflect the step being completed. You can use these instructions for future reference when beading other projects.

For wonderful beaded treasures to make and enjoy all year round, Another Beaded Obsessions fills the bill. Great job Beadgang!
