If you have been looking for a book that with a Victorian flavor, elegant designs and beautiful photography, this is it. Each necklace looks like a replica of antique jewelry owned by royalty. The necklaces are opulent, feminine and have an airy quality making them look very lightweight and sensuous.

In the introduction, Cheryl gives credit for techniques and designs that helped her on her way to create these beauties.

Each project has a list of materials required, step-by-step directions to create them and illustrations. She lists each necklace length when finished.  The finished color photography is lovely but what impresses me is each illustration shows every bead in color and gives it a three dimensional look. It took a great deal of time and hard work to achieve this effect.

Techniques include bead stringing, netting, bead loops, knots and diamond stitch (also the beginning base for right angle weave.) Size 11/0 and smaller 14/0 beads are used along with larger spacer and drop beads. You could easily convert these designs to larger beads such as size 4/0 through 8/0 beads along with larger spacers and dangles. They would be heavier and not take as many beads for the length, but would be great for those having difficulty working with smaller beads.

If you have looked through old books with photographs or illustrations of elegant jewelry with lots of complicated loops and connecting pieces worked together in ways you can’t figure out, Beaded Elegance provides easy answers and takes away the guesswork. The Brianna on page 15 is scrumptious; the grouping of drop beads combined with bead loops and accent beads make it an exciting combination.

Beaded Elegance is a very appealing book to enjoy visually, as well as an excellent how-to instructional book.
