What a spicy little jewel!  When it comes to bags, I usually stick with utilitarian bags because of the many items I need to carry everyday, plus I don’t like to change bags each time I go out.  However, these joyful little bags are too tempting to dismiss and I can use them for storing my projects.  By keeping my projects in these bags, I can enjoy displaying them.

The bag shapes are as varied as the fibers used to make them.  Some bags are rectangular while others are triangular, some have drawstring openings and others have zippers, fold over pocketbooks plus a lot more.

The projects include felted bags with spiraling circles and squares; modular motifs; mitered, Aran, lace, chevron and cable patterns.

You will find backpacks, slim line wallet size, totes and dressy bag patterns to knit.  I like the Long Bag that holds knitting needles, the SoHo Sling which can be worn in many different positions, the Zigzag Bag worked with a variety of bright colored yarns and the Counterpanes to Go, a bag worked in multiple folds and diverse stitches.  I wish I had time to make them all.

At the back of the book, illustrations and instructions are provided for the stitches used in these projects.  There are several patterns listed as “easy” for experience and most of the others are “intermediate” in skill level.  If you make all the bags listed as easy, I am sure you will then be ready for those listed as intermediate.  All the special stitches are explained.

“Bags” is a fun book with bags that will be attractive as well as useful.
